Audi TT Mk1 Coupe Drive

As a Christmas surprise, my brother took me out in his new car, a Mk1 Audi TT Coupe. Looking at it, the car has been well maintained with no dents and a clean interior. The car was cleaned before my brother picked it up but the photos were taken after the drive. The Audi TT is 13.26 feet long by 5.8 feet wide and is 4.4 feet in height. This car comes equipped with a 1.8 litre Quattro 5V Turbo engine that is transversely mounted, a six speed manual gearbox, fully independent suspension and Quattro 4 wheel drive system. This model also has the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and heated seats.

The interior is completely original and very clean. Press the TT panel to reveal a Bose radio with a cassette player.

Getting into the car is a bit of a squeeze but once inside the seats are comfortable and there is enough leg space. After a couple of issues with the cars battery we get the car started and it quickly goes into a nice idle around 1000RPM. We pull out and head off for a tour of some nice driving roads around Salisbury. Being a passenger at this point, the first thing that surprised me was the cars acceleration  In first gear, the turbo kicks in at around 3,400RPM, in second gear, it's around 2,400RPM. The initial acceleration is quick but when the turbo kicks in, you really do feel the car speed up.
Around some tight country corners the suspension keeps the car firmly planted and there are no drama's. Over potholes and speed bumps the Audi does not crunch your back while going over them. We pull up in a car park my brother get out and it's my turn to have a go. We pull out close to a dual carriageway so I accelerate my way up through the gears. The car feels fantastic to drive, the pedals are easy to operate, the gearbox feels sharp, the steering feels light and the brakes are good. Off of the dual carriageway and I find that as a driving the Audi is good fun. The engine is growling it'sway through the countryside, the ESP is off so I'm not being reigned in by computers. I can feel the road through the steering wheel and through my seat. Cornering around the lanes is good fun but the Audi feels wider than my normal car so i do make sure i don't scratch the paint. I pick up the dual carriageway for the return journey and this time the road is clear, so I make the most of it, the long road gets eaten up by the acceleration and speed of the Audi and after a few miles i have to slow down due to traffic in front of me. Into the outskirts of Salisbury and one last bit of fun, a slingshot off a roundabout onto a clear road. Towards the end of the drive we turn in and have to go over more bumps but again these cause no issues. With the drive finished I park the car and reluctantly hand my keys back to my brother. This car is a lot of fun to drive, if I owned it I can imagine me just going out for a drive for fun. My brother paid £3,000 for this car and it's worth every penny. If you have not driven one, I recommend you do, I think this is a future classic.
