Wilton House Classic & Supercars 10th August 2014

I was lucky enough to win tickets to the Wilton House Classic & Supercar Show.
I went in for a competition put on by Event Tyres. The question was: What is your favourite driving song? My answer was Layla by Derek and The Dominos.
Lord Pembroke of Wilton House has been hosting a car show since 2009 and each year they have become bigger and better. This years theme is Old & New. Some of the classic cars on display gave their modern counterpart by their side. This is all rapped up by the Main Event which is a parade of supercars headed up by Lord Pembrokes Bugatti Veyron.
I met my companion Stuart Moore in Salisbury and we made our way to Wilton House. We arrived early and were amongst the first in the queue. The weather for the day looked ominous as rain clouds loomed over us. Luckily we had both bought wet weather clothing.
As 9am came, we were given the ok to enter the show ground and its big.
I came to the first one in 2009 and it has grown a lot. The entrance field used to be the car park and there is much more going on. I first of all make my way to the Event Tyres Stand to claim a goody bag and to find out if I am to be filmed. I meet Jianni Geras from Event Tyres and we have a quick chat, Jianni would like me to be filmed talking about Event Tyres.
I arrange with the film crew to be filmed at 11am.
As Stuart and I wonder around the various displays, we begin taking photos, there are some genuinely beautiful cars on display. The first thing that catches my eye is the Bournemouth District Car Club stand. Amongst others they gave a Mach 1 Mustang and a Mk1 Ford Escort.

I then make my way around the surrounding area. Here I find Aston Martins, Morgan's, Porsches, Audi's and Lamborghini's. Having taking photos we then go to a different area.

We are greeted by some spectacular racing cars and road cars. Here we have a Ferrari, a Corvette, a Ford GT and many more ending with the Bentley Area

It's at this point in the day that the heavens open and the rain pours down. It's decided that the best course of action is a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich. We find the tent and take shelter. From here I can see a big marquee with a Lambroghini parked outside and the Maserati display.

Once the rain has died down, we investigate the marquee to find the SCC Bloodhound. This is going to be a record breaking car and looks incredible. It's big hence the marquee covering it.

I then see a camera crew interviewing Lord Pembroke. Once they have finished interviewing him, I get his attention and to my amazement he takes some time to have a quick chat with me about today's show and the American Breakfast Club meeting he hosted earlier in the year.
To say I was happy that he took the time to speak to me is an understatement and I would like to to take this opportunity to say thank you to Lord Pembroke.

The rain stops and we then make our way to the Old and New stand to see what is there. We have a Lamborghini Muria with a Huracan, a Bugatti Type 51 and a Veyron, a Ford GT and a GT40, two Alfa Romeo 6C's, a BMW M1 and an i8, Jaguar have an E-Type and an F-Type, Ferrari have a 250 with an F40, they also have a California next to a 275 GTB/4 and a final trio that is made up of a 250 GTO SWB, a 599 and a 288 GTO, Bentley have a 4 and half litre and a Continental GT, Aston Martin have a DB4 and a Vanquish, McLaren have an F1 and a 650S. The centrepiece is a Mercedes 300SL and an AMG SLS. Off to one side are a set of  Jaguar XJ220s.

With the photos taken It's time to be filmed.
Stuart and I make our way back to the film crew and he waits while I am filmed.
Afterwards we then have a look around a parking enclosure for those that have upgraded, a road car display, the McLaren display and the Maserati display and take more photos.

It's time to take our place for the parade, and the clouds and rain have been replaced by blue skies and sunshine. Stuart is armed with a camera to take still photos while I film the event.
Lord Pembrokes Bugatti leads the way followed by a Bentley, an Aston Martin and a whole host of other cars including a Jaguar XJ220, several McLarens. Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, Audi's, Nissans, Mercedes, Porsche's, a Gumpert Appollo, a Ford GT, a Ronart, a Bristol Fighter Coupe and Tim Burton aka Shmee 150's McLaren and his Morgan 3 Wheeler.

After the parade has finished we make our way around the cars and take more pictures and I speak to Shmee 150. We have a quick chat and a photo.

Making our way around the final set of cars, I bump into Elo from the London Motor Museum and have a quick chat.

We then make our way to the Group B Rally stage to have a look at the cars in action.

After an action packed day it's time to leave and I can safely say that I am looking forward to 2015's event
