BTTC at Thuxton Circuit August 26th 1996

Digging through the old family photo archives, I came across these that I took at the BTTC at Thruxton Circuit from August 1996. Also on the racing bill were some Formula Fords and some Motor bike racing.
I remember arriving early with my dad and a friend as this was an early birthday treat and also the first time I had been to a proper race. We had to pay £10 for the entry and £4 to get entry to the paddock. The paddock was busy with people re-building cars and running checks to make sure that everything was ready. The smells included kerosene, petrol and rubber. There was also Damon Hill's 1996 Williams F1 Car. We made our way to where we would sit along the straight. The racing was close and fast with drivers rubbing cars and overtaking and intevibly some accidents. It was a typical august bank holiday, it started off with lovely weather but the heavens soon opened. These photo's are not the best as they were taken on a standard camera as we did not have an SLR but they give a good indicator that it was a great day of racing with changing weather. Rickard Rydell won the BTTC race in his Volvo 850 Racing car.
