Haynes International Motor Museum

Haynes International Motor Museum in Sparkford near Yeovil holds the biggest collection of cars in the UK, holding over 400 exhibits that cover everything from vintage cars to modern Supercars.
The museum was founded by John Haynes OBE in 1985.
John Haynes is the man that gave us the Haynes Manual. During a posting to Arden for National Service with the RAF in 1965, David Hyland, a friend of John's bought an Autin Healey "Frogeyed" Sprite that needed a lot of work. Initially they tried to use the BMC workshop manual but found them too technical and difficult to use as they were ametures.
So John decided he could do a better job. The pair began to dismantle the car, taking the parts to John's upstairs flat and photographing every part of the car in his kitchen. They then recorded every part of the rebuild. John had 3000 copies of this manual published and sold them all within 3 months. The rest as they say is history. In 2014, the museum underwent a 6 million pound refit and is able to show more exhibits. As well as the cars, the museum has a cafe and a play area for children. The photos below were taken before the refit.
